3rd Semester English Review

Image
Taking english in the 3rd semester of our degree has been useful so far, the last time I spoke in english was before leaving school or 'cuarto medio', so, this course helps me retaking of the language and improve it.  Between the virtuality of Zoom classes and the palpable of in-person instances, I prefer the opportunity to go to uni and see, interact with a real classroom 😆. I´m a distracted person and the university context predispose me to focus on the classes, take notes, be attentive and capture what I´m listening, seeing and feeling with the provided content... like a chip change  ðŸ¤–. About this blogs format, I learned new words or remembered a lot of therms that I used to know in high school, the DeepL site helped me a lot along this 3rd semester 👑. Furthermore, I consider this type of activities as a good form to incentivate the creativity to create texts and make work the mind to think how to express, explain, deepen ideas about any theme. So making blogs can be a g...

About our anthropology programme

Image
I'm attending my 3rd semester of the anthoprology degree and personally I consider it good enough at this moment. Because we got a lot of pending stuff to learn yet, like the sooner specialization choose and the future content and habilities we must learn for our professional development. But, at this point, the first three semesters has been challenging and enjoyable, thanks to the interesting and varied things we have seen. For example, and one of the greatest subjects was "Hunters-gatherers" where, in a nutshell, we learnt about the first human generations that lived and spread around Earth, how they subsist, what kind of cultural patterns they had, like the rupestrian art, mummifications, religious habits, nature imitation, valoration of their environment (linguistically and communicatively by symbolisms and social dynamics) and how they were the beggining of the human kind we know and are today. With this, I think our journey through the anthropology course is challe...

Subaquatic archeology, one of my dreamed jobs

Image
As a late 3rd post, I want to share with you one of the archeology areas that I were knowing lately, the underwater archeology. As 2nd year anthropology students we gotta to choose the next semester, in July approx, our elective courses to specialize ourselves in the following years of the degree, as social or physical anthropologists or as archeologists. There´s the option of doing a 'secundary specialization', but that implies one year and a half to graduate approx. Well, I want to be an archeologist, as the title sugests haha, and the area related to the sea, or the water bodies like rivers, subterranean waters, lakes, cenotes and more... just motivates me to be a scuba-archeologist. I love and respect a lot the water, as a natural phenomena wich can take human lives without mercy and as a world where the most remote things, especially human made, and unknown animal species are hidden and can be discovered by us.   In simply words, the wide archeology works with human materi...

If I had the Delorean Time Machine, I would do it, just for fun

Image
I was thinking this situation, travelling in time, like in that movie with the Doc, Marty Mcfly and their famous car, the Delorean. And the first memory that became to my head, if like my brain just went like 'hey, take this old memory I just bring back to you, from your childhood', was related to a particular set of toys that I got in 2009, the "Gogos". This toys series got a last name, originally they're known as "Gogos Crazy Bones" and, the game related to this mini-figures is the 'knucklebones' or 'jackstones', a game from the Former Greek (1200 BC- 146 BC). The dynamic of this dexterity game was throwing ankle bones (or astragalus) or just tiny things as dice, so you can reach a point series to win. For example, if I throw the 'gogo' and it lands showing its front, I win 2 points. When I was a kid I never played with my 'Gogos' like this jaja, but I remember that I loved to collect them all, and for this case, I wo...

One of my best holidays: "By order of the 2021 Halloween"

Image
It was a party and I have mixed feelings about it, because I enjoyed it dressed as Peaky Blinder😆. This party was at a former school classmate's house and started the night of October 30, at 9pm, as an early Halloween celebration and lasted until 3am. I was with other four former classmates, helping to prepare the house, cleaning, and taking responsibility as head of the house in case anything happened. At least fourteen people arrived past the night, we played 'Tomanji', whose basic dynamic is to go drinking with games, challenges, punishments and even gifts (all of this related to take or give sips of drinks😂... As a fact: there´s a dare to drink everything in the glass you have, and even another one similar; in wich you or your friends serve a full glass that's gotta be drinked in one go by yourself 💀). The best thing about this event was the pool, yes, there was a pool, and big enough to contain the almost 20 guests. Why was it the best? Because after staying in ...

Con Italia partirò

Image
,Hi! I'm Jaime and this is the inauguration to my first blog, where I´ll share with you one of my ideal places to visit: Italy. I don´t know too much things about this country but yes that it´s the crib or home of the Roman Empire and part of its culture valorates and makes/cooks the food in a way us, as occidentals or americans, can´t achieve or understand in its deepest -italian- meaning... I mean, they don´t break in two the pasta to cook it like us😂. Another example can be the coffee, here I gotta mention the Youtube channel "Lionfield", where Matteo and Emiliano (the creators), share a lot of stuff related to the italian culture, specially about food... the day I saw one video showing how they make a spresso... dayum😳😩... that just motivated me to buy a moka pot or search for a italian restaurant and order a purest coffee😆. If I had the oportunity to visit Italy, the first thing I would do is eat a slice of pizza in front of the Pisa Tower, meanwhile I´m listenin...
